How to Add Water to Your Spot Laser Welder

How to add water to laser welder

Adding water to your spot laser welder is an essential maintenance task to ensure optimal performance and prevent potential damage. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Water Volume Guidelines based on Wellbridge Models:

  • For a 60W spot laser welder, the recommended water volume is 2.5 liters.
  • A 80W spot laser welder requires about 2.8 liters of water.
  • If you’re using a 100W spot laser welder, the water volume should be around 4 liters.

Frequency of Water Change:

  • If you use the spot laser welding machine for up to 8 hours a day, it’s advised to change the water once a month.
  • For usage exceeding 8 hours a day, consider changing the water more frequently to maintain optimal conditions.
  • When you not use the machine in long time, please don’t forget to drain the water out.

Type of Water to Use:

  • Pure water is generally suitable for spot laser welders, with distilled water being the preferred choice.
  • The lower the impurities in the water, the better it is for the machine’s longevity and performance.

Winter Maintenance Tips:

  • In colder climates, the water in the circulation system can freeze during winter months.
  • Freezing poses a risk of damaging components like water pipes and heat exchangers.
  • To prevent freezing and potential damage, add antifreeze to the water in the circulation system during winter.

Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Water:

  1. Turn off the laser welder and allow it to cool down.
  2. Locate the water reservoir or tank, usually found at the back or side of the machine.
  3. Carefully open the reservoir cap or access panel.
  4. Use a clean water tube to pump the appropriate amount of water into the reservoir. All Wellbridge machines have auto water pumping system to make this work easy.
  5. Close the reservoir cap securely to prevent any leaks.
  6. Turn on the laser welder and check for any leaks or unusual sounds.
  7. Monitor the water level regularly and top up as needed, following the volume guidelines mentioned earlier.

Important Notes:

  • Always use clean water to prevent contaminants from affecting the welder’s performance.
  • Regular maintenance, including water changes, helps extend the lifespan of your spot laser welder and ensures consistent welding quality.

By following these simple steps and guidelines, you can effectively maintain your spot laser welder and ensure it operates at its best. Remember, proper maintenance is key to achieving optimal performance and avoiding costly repairs. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to consult the manufacturer’s guidelines or reach out to a professional technician for assistance.
